A Family Tradition of Quality

E.W. Carpenter Family Tree

Inspired by the legacy of our namesake Emmanuel Carpenter, our furniture exists to stand the test of time as functional art.

E.W. Carpenter was a distinguished craftsman of the 1800’s and a Great (x4) Grandfather of our founder, Dave Puncochar. He had a passion for quality and innovation, as he had multiple patents on new hand plane designs in the 1800’s. We build upon his foundation for a tradition of excellence that continues with us today.

Starting as part of Good Wood Nashville, our studio set out to build heirloom quality pieces, working to emulate the high attention to detail, expert craftsmanship, using the best lumber available.

In 2025, after 13 years of business, we split our woodworking off from our lumber company. Our rebrand to E.W. Carpenter is an effort to honor E. W.’s legacy.

Today, we and our sister company lumber supplier, Good Wood Nashville, work to transform your ideas into timeless pieces.

Modern founder, Dave Puncochar and his late Mom Mom, Rita Haley McManus, Great Great Granddaughter of E.W. Carpenter.
